My name is Jane. Ever since I was a very small child, I have always loved and cared for animals. I have owned cats, hamsters and an African grey parrot. While I was at school, I worked in a pet shop and assisted at a veterinary surgery. Once I had finished school, I worked at Sandyacres Boarding cattery for eight years. There, I looked after both boarding and resident cats, as well as three dogs, ducks, geese, chickens and Guinea pigs!
I have always been interested in dog grooming and for years, I have done pet sitting for family and friends. After being made redundant, I decided that this is what I wanted to do professionally and resolved to set up my own business, providing these services.
I have been professionally trained in dog grooming to a very high standard at the award winning “Classic Canine Cuts” salon in South Wales, where I gained my certificate in dog grooming.
I also undertake a range of local charity work. For many years I have been involved in fundraising for the Reading and District Cats Protection. I do voluntary dog walking at Binfield Dog Rescue. I belong to the Friends of Lavell’s Lake, for which I do conservation work. I am a keen bird watcher and a member of the RSPB. In addition, I regularly contribute bird sightings to the Berkshire Birds website. Finally, I am a member of the Berks, Bucks and Oxon Wildlife Trust who organise walks, talks and conservation activities for these areas.
